My wife Mary is a seamstress. She runs her business from the room next to my office.
And gosh, is she ever busy!
She does mending and alterations… and sometimes creates new stuff. For example, she’s in the middle of sewing some new outfits for tiny square dancers today. So cute!
They’re a local group, and the moms asked Mary to make the outfits.
Now, you may be wondering what this has to do with getting copywriting clients… Or even copywriting in general.
I’ll explain in just a moment. First, let me tell you about my day as a seamstress’s assistant.
The little guys in the square-dancing group need bow ties. And we found out today that they’re due by tomorrow for a photo shoot.
So my mission (and I chose to accept it, obviously) was to find the hardware necessary for the ties. I looked online for the clips and found them on Amazon. However, they wouldn’t get here in time.
And nowhere in Northwest Arkansas had that kind of spring clip.
But one fabric shop did have the clasp for the neckband style. So I was off to the mall to get them, post haste.
Along the way, I had to stop to mail a package for Mary. So all-in-all, I spent some quality windshield time, running errands for Mary’s Sew & So!
Now, what does this have to do with copywriting?
Actually, a lot.
You see, it’s my “fault” I had to run the errands today. And it’s not the first time, either.
It’s all because of something I did in September of 2013.
Here’s the story…
