Today, it’s July 4, 2018. And two days ago, it was Monday, July 2.
Why are those dates significant to me? Why do I point them out?
Well, on the fourth of July, we Americans celebrate our Independence from Great Britain. It’s a significant day in the history of our country.
So, it seems appropriate that we freelancers claim that date to celebrate our own independence, or at least our progress toward it.
And July 2?
The second day in July is the 183rd day in our calendar. It’s the midpoint of our year. And, it was a good date to sit back and evaluate the journey so far… and to plan for the future.

I have to agree.
That means I must continually look for ways to grow and move forward, even if those ways look uncomfortable at first.
And, American self-help author Napoleon Hill wrote, “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”
With these quotes — and a host of others in my notes — I set out to evaluate my copywriting business. I looked at:
- Where I am today.
- Where I want to be by year-end.
- What it’s going to take to get there.
Here’s what I found…
