Last month, I attended the 2018 AWAI Copywriting Bootcamp and Job Fair in Delray Beach, Florida.
I’ve already signed up for next year’s event in May of 2019.
This year was my fifth time attending the conference. Obviously, it won’t be the last, either. And this year, Mary accompanied me for the second time.
She loves going… and not just to relax on the beach or by the pool (although we did our share of that, too).
But she and I both love meeting all the attendees and speakers at Bootcamp.
Most of the year, I type away in my office… pretty much a solitary writer. I like that.
But I enjoy getting out and meeting other like-minded souls.
Of course, I’m in a copywriting peer group that meets regularly. We’ve scheduled phone calls every Tuesday for everyone in the group that can make it.
There’s a lot to be said about connecting with other copywriters.
It keeps you fresh, or as “A-list” copywriter John Carlton might say… “frosty!”
I love our weekly phone chats.
But there’s something special about these yearly gatherings. I get enthused by the energy that surrounds the event. Especially from the new attendees.
And, there were a lot of them this year!
But I also enjoy connecting with my coaches and mentors there.
Several attended this year and I got a chance to talk to them.
Of course, I learned a lot from each speaker as they gave attendees new information to ponder. Including the advice or teaching from the business-building and marketing experts.
One speaker really made me think, to delve deep down inside and discover what I needed to do for greater success this coming year.
And that speaker talked about…
